Investing in the future of children and young mothers

Education is one of the most important pillars of our work. We believe that every child and every young mother deserves an opportunity to learn, develop their potential, and build a better future.

Education

Becoming a mother young should not end a girl’s education

Our objective is to help these young mothers overcome the social and economic barriers that prevent them from completing their education. Becoming a mother at a young age should not mean losing the opportunity to learn, develop professional skills, or build an independent future.

We are particularly proud when we see children returning to school, young mothers resuming their studies, and girls learning small trades that can help them earn an income and support their families.

2025

YWD began supporting young children from vulnerable families to access education.

2026

YWD started supporting young minor mothers in returning to school and continuing their education while acquiring practical vocational skills.

Next

Supporting 20 young minor mothers back to school, a uniform workshop, a daycare centre and a women’s art gallery.

“Educating a woman is educating a nation.”

Our upcoming projects

Four initiatives for the Rubavu community

Strengthening access to education, creating employment, supporting childcare and promoting local artistic products.

01Planned

Supporting 20 young minor mothers to return to school

YWD plans to support 20 young minor mothers in returning to school and continuing their education. This initiative will help them overcome social and economic barriers, acquire knowledge and skills, and build a brighter and more independent future for themselves and their children.

02Planned

A sewing workshop for school uniforms

YWD plans to establish a sewing workshop specializing in school uniforms. The workshop will provide vocational training and create income-generating opportunities for vulnerable women and young mothers, helping them develop practical sewing skills, access employment and become more economically independent.

03Planned

A small daycare centre for children

YWD intends to establish a small daycare centre equipped with cradles and basic childcare facilities. It will provide a safe place for young children while their mothers go to work, attend vocational training, or take part in other income-generating activities.

04Planned

An arts and crafts gallery in Gisenyi

YWD plans to open an arts and crafts gallery in Gisenyi, Rubavu District, where local women artists can display and sell their handmade products. The gallery will promote Rwandan creativity and traditional craftsmanship, increase the visibility of women artisans, and create new income opportunities.

Support a project

We welcome partnerships and support from organizations, businesses, schools, visitors and development partners who share our vision of building stronger and more resilient communities.
